Another game of comparisons now...
Catherine Durand... Stéphanie Lapointe... Or... Ariane Moffatt?
Catherine Durand - an eclectic talent worthy of discovery
Catherine Durand - also an acquired taste, for some...
Catherine has a certain classic quality reminiscent of Marie Laforêt; she is also an improvement over the likes of Marie Carmen and Marie-Philipe, who used to hog the spotlight in what is Catherine's territory...
(Hmm - I should do one of these "three-way comparison" things on the three Maries too...!)
Nice backstory for this collaboration here: Catherine Durand wrote the song for Stéphanie Lapointe to honor the memory of Noémie - a little girl who died of cancer.
Stéphanie is LITERALLY "entre deux néants" here, yes...
A song written by the great Daniel Bélanger...
Ariane retrace son fil pour revenir à Montréal
(parce qu'elle n'était pas la bienvenue au Népal?)
The lyrics of this tune were much improved by RBO in their year-end review of 2006, in which they bash airport security in Montreal (on y rentre comme on rentre au Centre Laval - c'est vrai ça!) and substituted -to make their point clearer- a drug trafficant and a terrorist (respectively named Arani and Mohatt I do believe) to the singer here...
Sooooooo...
Which one will it be?
Catherine Durand... Stéphanie Lapointe... Or... Ariane Moffatt?
